  THE BIO

When Skwatta Kamp burst on the local hip-hop scene, we were all “flabbergasted”. This group was a group made up of abomRapper , seven of them to be specific. Many asked how would they survive with “7 egos/personalities”. Well they have. With 7 talents, each person had his role and his own talent. Now it is time for Mzansi to experience the fruits of one of the individuals.

Flabba became known as the roughneck of the group – a role that he reluctantly took, but made it his own because of his powerful personality. But within the group – he became the softie. He is the big brother. He is the one who protects all the others.

His journey into life began on October 17, 1977, in the dusty streets of Orlando West – to his proud parents he became Nkululeko Habedi. His strict maternal grandmother dominated his early years. At this time Flabba knew nothing on the hardcore life of the streets, until he moved to Alexander to live with his parents. They were more relaxed in rules than umagogo. This is when Flabba learnt how to walk the streets, talk the talk of the streets – basically learnt how to be a man.

In 1996 he met up with fellow Skwatta, Musa Molefe (Nish) and he in turn introduced him to Siyabonga (Slikour) and Lebogang (Sugasmaxx). This is when they started rapping and in their quest for a record deal met up with Sizwe Zako of label. But this did not do much for their rapping. At that time most label execs saw this “rapping thang” as too American. With kwaito and gospel being the only happening genres locally. Armed with what they learnt about the music business, they moved on.

It was in 1997 that the group came into existence, as the 7 Skwatta-Kampers , with the introduction of 3 others members.

When Flabba's father passed away 2 years ago, he had to become the man of the house. There were siblings who looked to him for their next move in regards to their lives. It was a role Flabba took and embraced, but he became angry because at 26, Flabba himself still needed guidance. He needed fathering himself. It is at this point that the Flabba we know, love and at times hate, came to the fore.

In local hip-hop circles he became the Flabbaguster to the industry. He took the role yobu mangazi the masses with gusto and we are still ‘flabbagusted'. Now its time for him to come out - minus the Kampers.

In this life there are very few storytellers who have mastered the art of hiding messages in their words and Flabba is amongst the select few. His rhymes make you part of his delivery – he engages you and allows you to come up with your own conclusions of what he is saying. He plants the seed in your mind – and you go wild with them. Flabba is SPECIAL, and he does not need you to tell him that. He knows.

With his roughneck element, he has become the most cherished emcees in Mzansi, as many rappers believe in his writing and delivery skills.

With his single, S'bhamu Som'doko, we've drawn our conclusions on what the man is saying. Now he has 17 other cheeky tracks for you to ponder on. Come end of September, ikhanda lakho will be spinning from his debut album titled, Nkuli versus Flabba (greatest hits), released through CCP/EMI.

On these hot 18 tracks Flabba worked with Mzansi's finest producers and MCees. Artists who graced him with their lyrical and vocal prowess include: HHP, Lira, Kabomo, Bravo, Relo and Max-Hoba.

As part of the Skwatters, Flabba has represented Mzansi in other parts of the world, he got to share the stage with internationally acclaimed artists like Will Smith, Snoop Dog and has the fortune of working with Ludacris, to name just a few. And he along with his crew are famously known for turning down the opportunity of working with US RnB crooner, Chritina Milian, which they did not see as much of an opportunity.

You've heard S'bhamu Som'doko , but now its been remixed, and Flabba has done what Mzansi had thought would never been done. He got abomRapper to bless this track with their rhymes. Summer is going to rock on this track which features: HHP, H20, Tuks, Prokid, Morafe, Hidden Force, Amu, Mr. Selwyn, Zulu Mobb, Proverb, Ramesh, Naked DJ, Skwatta Kamp and Omen.

In his rapping, Flabba possesses many strengths, what he is most respected for is the unapologetic manner in which he presents his music; he stays true to himself no matter what. He is not dictated to. If you ever wanted to get on a personal level with Flabba, this is it. You will learn about Flabba the lover, the father, the son, the brother and the street-battler. It is time for Flabba to shine, so lets allow ourselves to be ‘ flabbagusted ' by his light beam.
