Biography

Behind the production deck or on the mic, INFA is a true hip-hop artist and one of Joburg’s finest lyricists. INFA’s album is been long in the making and now is ready to take over the local hip-hop scene. The emcee come producer is re-inventing himself as a solo artist, after releasing two hot albums with his crew Skwatta Kamp with the independent record label Buttabing Records, and a hot streak of appearances on the “Expressions” compilation and many other cameos he was gripped by high levels of inspiration which allowed him to thread his first solo effort with carefully crafted words and phat flows over dope thumping beats.

After a diet of Joburg’s street culture and shadow boxing with life in South Africa over the past 21 years, INFA has now reached the peak of his lyrical fitness. INFA is in good shape with his rhyming skills in “I.Q.” masterfully delivering street chronicles, life struggles, grimy war rhymes, and the state of hip-hop in Joburg.

INFA’s Background

INFA grew up in the East Rand of Gauteng and made his debut into hip-hop in the early 90s via mix tapes made at Mkhukhu Funk Studios. The whole thing started with friends borrowing each other mix tapes. That friend was non-other than Siyabonga Metane a.k.a. Slick of Skwatta Kamp. Siyabonga Metane would also let him use his keyboard. He then met Lebogang Mothibe a.k.a. Shugasmakx then Musa Molefe a.k.a. Initial M and then the rest of the guys eventually. The rest, like they say is history. He began squeezing the life out Siyabonga’s keyboard producing and rhyming on classic tracks like “Posse Track”, "The rest shut the…” “Bathday Celebration” from the first Skwatta Kamp album “Skwatta Kampain”. He then went on to produce the highly acclaimed “Manyisa” on the super classic second Skwatta album, “Khut En Joyn”, which needs no introduction.

Discography

INFA has kept his hardcore hip-hop steam in his new solo effort “I.Q. (INFA’s Quotes)”. The album opens with “Rap Czar” which is layered with a juicy baseline and moves into “Twendifest”, ”Headlines” and the radio single “Got You Open”. INFA takes it to the streets with joints like “South Africa”, “Ain’t Gangsta” while keeping heads satisfied with “Running” and “Caution”. The album closes with a personal “History” – if you think you still don’t know enough about INFA check this one out.

The phat rhymes and hooks of I.Q. blend street intelligence and superior flowing ability that chronicles Joburg reality, as only INFA knows it.
